“What can a pencil do for all of us? Amazing things. It can write transcendent poetry, uplifting music, or life-changing equations; it can sketch the future, give life to untold beauty, and communicate the full-force of our love and aspirations.” Adam Braun
Classroom Central has been selected as this year’s charitable organization of choice and on September 16th, during Ignite Charlotte 7, we ask that you give a pencil, or a box of pencils, when you enter The Chop Shop doors between 6pm and 9pm. This will be our three hour school supply drive with a collection goal of 2,000 pencils.
Classroom Central equips students living in poverty to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies. Since its inception in 2002, Classroom Central has distributed over $38 million in school supplies and almost 1 million pencils last year to kids in poverty.
Ignite Charlotte features a series of 5 minute talks by community members who are personally or professionally passionate about an idea. Wouldn’t it be great if one of your pencils made it into the hands of a child with an idea, one that sketches our future?
Enlighten us, but make it quick!
